Not Today, Sales Magician

I have been working in marketing for a long time. At some point, I just stopped understanding certain people.

Especially the ones who show up to "optimize" your processes. They enter the room with a confident look and try to sell solutions that were outdated before I even started my career. Do they honestly believe a flashy presentation can confuse a practitioner. Do they think a nice slide deck will help them quietly dump a useless service on us.

I am a marketing analyst. My job involves daily, tight contact with the sales team. I do not look at business through the lens of a single click. I see the whole picture. I see all the weak spots. And I never miss the moment when we can actually close a solid deal instead of just skimming the surface.

Then another sales magician walks into the meeting room. Pushing hard, sweating, spending his last energy trying to convince me to "take a closer look" at his offer.

My main weakness in these negotiations is simple. I am too lazy to sit through pure noise. I try to stay polite out of basic respect for the person sitting opposite me. It does not always work. Sometimes I just give a short, direct answer. And I deliver it in a way he never expected.
